Bitcoin in Dubai: what to know
Dubai has its own crypto regulator and is one of the world's busiest crypto hubs. Bitcoin is quoted in dirhams per 1 BTC; because the dirham is pegged to the US dollar, the AED price moves in step with the dollar price.
The price on this page is the international bitcoin price in AED, the same across the UAE. National rules and tax are covered in full on the bitcoin price in UAE page.
Who regulates crypto in Dubai
The Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) licenses virtual asset service providers across Dubai, except in the DIFC financial free zone, where the DFSA regulates them. Before using a platform, check that it appears on VARA's public register or the DFSA's, and that its licence covers the service you need.
Tax
The UAE has no personal income tax and no capital gains tax for individuals, so gains on bitcoin held as a personal investment are generally untaxed, and transfers of virtual assets are exempt from VAT. Business activity can fall under corporate tax — see the UAE guide.
