Bitcoin in Lagos: what to know
Lagos is the centre of Nigeria's crypto market, one of the most active in the world. Prices are quoted in naira per 1 BTC, and many traders compare them with the dollar-stablecoin (USDT) rate.
The price on this page is the international bitcoin price in NGN, the same across Nigeria. National rules and tax are covered in full on the bitcoin price in Nigeria page.
Why app and P2P prices differ
This page converts the international price at the official exchange rate. Peer-to-peer and app prices in Lagos follow the naira price of dollar stablecoins, which can sit above or below the official rate when the naira is volatile — so expect a premium or discount.
Rules and tax
Crypto is regulated as securities by the SEC, and since January 2026 gains are taxed at personal income tax rates. See the Nigeria guide.
Legal and tax information last reviewed October 2026. Crypto rules change quickly — check with the regulator or tax authority, or a qualified adviser, before acting. This is not tax, legal or investment advice.
