Bitcoin ETF Flows: FAQ
What are bitcoin ETF flows?
The net amount of money that went into (inflows) or out of (outflows) the US spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds on a trading day. When investors buy more shares than they sell, the fund creates new shares and buys bitcoin to back them; outflows mean the fund sells bitcoin. Large, steady inflows are a sign of investor demand, and big outflows often come with falling prices.
Were bitcoin ETF flows positive on 21 October?
Yes: net inflows of $524.8m across the US spot bitcoin ETFs, making 3 trading days of inflows in a row.
Which bitcoin ETF has the biggest inflows?
Since launch, IBIT (BlackRock iShares) has taken in the most, about $66.5bn net. Grayscale's GBTC has had net outflows of about $28.0bn: it was converted from a closed-end trust with a 1.5% fee, and many holders moved to cheaper funds.
What was the biggest day for bitcoin ETF flows?
The largest net inflow since the funds launched was $1.37bn on 7 Nov 2024; the largest net outflow was $1.11bn on 25 Feb 2025.
When are the figures updated?
After the US market closes. Most funds report the same evening; some (often IBIT) the next morning, so the latest day can be incomplete for a few hours. This page is updated from Farside Investors' table after the US close.
