Bitcoin in London: what to know
London is home to many of Europe's crypto firms, but UK rules are strict: only FCA-registered firms may offer crypto services, and their adverts must follow the FCA's promotion rules.
The price on this page is the international bitcoin price in GBP, the same across the UK. National rules and tax are covered in full on the bitcoin price in UK page.
Crypto ATMs are illegal in the UK
The FCA has said that no crypto ATM operator is registered with it, so any crypto ATM in the UK is operating illegally, and it has prosecuted operators in London. Buy through a registered firm instead and check the FCA register first.
Tax
Gains are subject to Capital Gains Tax above the £3,000 annual allowance, at 18% or 24% — see the UK guide.
