Bitcoin in Abu Dhabi: what to know
Abu Dhabi uses the same dirham price as the rest of the UAE. Its international financial centre, Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), was one of the first places in the region to publish a crypto rulebook.
The price on this page is the international bitcoin price in AED, the same across the UAE. National rules and tax are covered in full on the bitcoin price in UAE page.
Who regulates crypto in Abu Dhabi
Inside ADGM, crypto firms are authorised by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA), which introduced its framework for crypto assets in 2018. Onshore Abu Dhabi falls under the federal Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA). Check the relevant public register before using a platform.
Tax
As elsewhere in the UAE, individuals generally pay no tax on bitcoin gains from personal investment. See the UAE guide for the details.
