Value today of ₹1 lakh invested on the first trading day of January of each year. The "Inflation" column is what you would need today to match the buying power of ₹1 lakh then.

How the calculator works

  • Bitcoin, gold and bitcoin: daily closing prices in US dollars, converted to rupees at each day's exchange rate; today's value uses the live price.
  • Stocks: the S&P 500 total return index (dividends reinvested) and the BSE Sensex (price index — dividends of roughly 1–1.5% a year are not included).
  • Fixed deposits: average one-year bank FD rate for each year, compounded monthly, before tax.
  • Inflation: India's consumer price inflation (annual averages, spread evenly over the months).
  • Monthly investing buys on the first trading day of each month at that day's close.

Not included: taxes, dealer premiums and making charges, storage, fund fees and exchange spreads. Past returns are not a guide to the future, and this is not investment advice.
